Crossing lake Húnavatn and enjoying the view of our herd dashing through the water. We then continue on lowland to Sveinsstadir where we discover more stunning views of the countryside.

We ride through the lush green Vatnsdalur Valley along the banks of salmon river Vatnsdalsa, famous for the size of its salmon.

From Kárdalstunga into the Highlands with the views of glaciers we lead our herd to the largest sheep gathering one has ever seen! We join the Icelandic shepherds and their horses in one of the country’s oldest cultural traditions - Réttir (the annual sheep round-up). We follow them to Sléttárdalur (a beautiful deserted valley) and witness 14 000 sheep on their way to Auðkúlurétt Corrall (the largest sheep corral in Iceland and possibly in the world) where they are finally sorted and reunited with their farmers.

We finish with a breathtaking ride across the Lagoon called Lake Hóp with vast stretches of black sand, where we have an opportunity to experience and practice the very special gaits of the Icelandic horse :)
