Tahai (or Ra Tahai) is the name of a western region of Rapa Nui. It encompasses one of the most important archaeological complexes of the island with three restored ahu, multiple other restored features and plenty of unrestored cultural vestiges. The urban area has surrounded it but the main part remains clear and it's easy to understand its pre-Christian configuration.

Tahai was the southernmost settlement of the royal Miru. It is known that at least one late 'ariki mau was buried in the remains of the central ahu: Nga'ara. In the 1960s the site was endangered due to the expansion of the urban settlement and increase of material needed for construction of houses. It was restored by a Rapanui team led by Germán Hotus, working closely with American archaeologist William Mulloy and Chilean archaeologist Gonzalo Figueroa.
