]Hoo boy, this took a lot of time to do.
I had to dust off Photoshop and become re-aqquainted with my old frenemy Bump Map. It was a reunion with a lot of coffee and cheerful swearing.

STORY:
Mulan and Shan Yu are huns, living a happily nomadic life with their daughter.
One day Mulan returns home to find the Imperial army burning her village.
Horrified, she is too late to save her daughter.
Later in a makeshift camp with other survivors, Mulan and Shan Yu mourn their child. They search for other survivors and all they find is their daughters doll.
Mulan demands justice, and that night after a plan is made, she leaves their camp.

In the Imperial city, she’s dolled up and she enters the Emperors palace in the guise of a Lady of the Court. After some suspicion about her mannerisms from other women, she’s accepted, and the Emperor is even fond of her little blunders.
Hating him and feeling guilty, Mulan mourns for her child.

One night she overhears a plot to head off any other hun villages in another raid, and she destroys the plans, signalling the huns to attack the city. (via firework colours/patterns)

They attack, the emperor is seized, and Shan Yu demands justice for his child and his village. The Emperor is unmoved, saying he was only protecting his borders against a savage threat. Shan Yu murders both Shang and the Emperor, and has a heartfelt reunion with Mulan.

After burning the cities and towns in vengeance, the huns regain their strength and return home.
Time passes, and Shan Yu returns to his tent to be greeted by Mulan, heavily pregnant with the brother/sister they had hoped to give their first child.
They spend some time together and bond, changed but unbroken.
