North Country Matters host Donna Seymour talks with Dr. Emma Gagnon with the Prevention Team about a six-week series, “Aging Wisely: Love Life, Live Well,” a new evidence-based program using the WISE - Wellness Initiative for Senior Education - model. The Prevention team is an arm of the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASES). This national program program is currently being run in a number of NYS counties to help those 55 and older learn about the aging process, how to make healthy lifestyle choices and improve their health care decisions, better manage medications and learn proactive strategies for living well as they navigate the aging process. They discuss how the program works and how other counties can set up their own Aging Wisely series to empower their senior population.
