Drawable Envelope Generator (mseg)

An envelope generator is a tool used in sound synthesis to shape the amplitude, pitch, or other parameters of a sound over time. A multi-stage envelope generator is a more advanced version of this tool that allows for more complex and nuanced changes to be made to a sound.

An MSEG typically consists of a series of stages, each with its own time duration and level control. These stages can be connected in various ways to create complex and evolving shapes that can be used to modulate various parameters of a sound.

For example, an MSEG could be used to control the amplitude of a sound over time, gradually fading it in, holding it at a constant level, then fading it out. Alternatively, it could be used to modulate the filter cutoff frequency of a synthesizer, creating sweeping or pulsing filter effects.

One advantage of using an MSEG over a simple envelope generator is that it allows for more precise and detailed control over the shape of the envelope. Additionally, because MSEGs can be synchronized to a musical tempo or rhythm, they can be used to create complex and evolving rhythmic patterns that can add interest and movement to a sound.
