We react and review 10 Shocking Differences Between Valmiki Ramayana and Tulsi Das Ramcharitmanas from the YouTube Channel THE HINDU SAGA. Ramayan was written by Valmiki in the Treta Yuga – the second in the series of Maha Yuga. It was referred as Adi Kavya meaning ‘The Original/First poem’. Being the first of its kind, Valmiki was highly praised for his work and Ramyana was well accepted by scholars and society.
On the other hand, when Tulsi Das completed his version – The Ramcharit Manas in the 15th century AD, he was ridiculed by the Sanskrit Brahmins. One of the reasons of this criticism was that the original Ramayan was written in Sanskrit which is considered to be the language of gods, whereas Tulsi Das’ Ramcharit Manas, was written in a local language called Awadhi.
Even though the core of the story is the same, Ramcharit manas definitely has many instances that completely differ from the original Ramayan.
The tale of Lord Ram and the squirrel teaches the value of humility, dedication, and the fact that every effort, no matter how small, is essential and appreciated in the grand scheme of things. It serves as a reminder that everyone can contribute positively to society and that no act of goodness should be considered insignificant.
