This video explores the Mayfair 721 vintage cassette tape recorder from the late 1960's. It was an inexpensive recorder at the time, yet it is beautifully designed and has remarkably good sound – 52 years LATER!

This machine is almost identical mechanically and electrically to the IDEAL: "Sidekick" cassette tape recorder from the same time period. I feature the details of the interior of that machine in this video, since they are so very similar. Also of interest is that I had a Mayfair 712 recorder when I was in college. I think I paid $12 for it at FW Woolworth or WT Grant (both popular discount department stores at the time).

This model (from E-Bay 2019) is in excellent condition and still makes and plays remarkably fine recordings, as you will hear!
