SMPTE Standards PDA Webcast: SMPTE Timed Text

Описание к видео SMPTE Standards PDA Webcast: SMPTE Timed Text

Speaker: Michael Dolan, Television Broadcast Technology, Inc.

The industry is moving to more and more Internet-delivered media. To date, closed captioning and subtitles have been delivered using proprietary methods. SMPTE developed a standard for the native encoding of captions and subtitles known as "SMPTE Timed Text". In addition, it has published and drafted Recommended Practices for the mapping of CEA-608 (analog closed captions) and CEA-708 (digital closed captions) into SMPTE Timed Text, respectively, in order to assist in the migration of television content to the Internet. The US FCC has just issued a Report and Order setting out requirements for programming and devices regarding the authoring and display of Internet-delivered captioning that references SMPTE Timed Text. The webcast will cover the technical details of these SMPTE standards and is targeted at the engineer involved in using them.
