We dive deep into the specific aircraft modifications that defined this campaign. You will see the North American B-25G Mitchell, a variant equipped with a solid nose housing a 75mm M4 cannon—one of the largest weapons ever mounted on a WWII aircraft. We explain the mechanics of this "flying artillery," which required the navigator to manually load shells during combat runs, and how it was used to devastate Japanese shipping and ground fortifications.

The video also explores the dangerous art of low-level attack. We discuss the development and use of "parafrag" bombs—fragmentation explosives equipped with parachutes to allow low-flying A-20 Havocs and B-25s to escape the blast radius while strafing enemy airfields.
