TVS-SEPTA Trolleys: Drexel Hill Junction Station on the Media-Sharon Hill Lines

Happy birthday to me lol :) This is nearby home so it was something I've been meaning to do but never gotten a chance too. This is the junction station where the Media-Sharon Hill Trolley Lines split into their respective branches from the trunk line that starts at 69th St following Garrett Road. The trolley (really a dumbed down Light Rail) has roots as an Interurban Railway line when Red Arrow Lines (and P&WC Traction prior) owned them. In 1982, the line was given the light rail treatment in order to accommodate the streetcar-like Kawasaki LRVs who were coming to the system at the time. Until 1999, some trolleys use to end their runs here.

The split is pretty cut and dry. Sharon Hill Trolley go straight and down the hill curving off into the creek valley while the Media Trolley curves off to the west staying along the top of the hill. The station itself is very basic in design but has a normal Red Arrow-style brick hut shelter on the inbound platform while the outbound platform has a basic brick shelter of modern design.

Similar to NYC Subway's way of routing trains, the trolleys on the outbound platform pull up to "punch box" which has buttons who controls the switch and signals to properly route the trolleys to what branch they're serving. Inbound trolleys trigger the switch in the direction of their favor. Media-Sharon Hill Line get busy during the Rush Hour but there are 7 minute gaps in the schedule.
