Bassmaster Angler of the Year, Seth Feider, is here to share his go-to setup for fishing a topwater frog. When fishing a frog, it is important to have the right gear to handle the cover you're targeting and today, Seth breaks down his favorite rod for open water frogging where there is minimal vegetation or thick cover to worry about. Seth's go-to rod. is a 7'0" Medium-Heavy Daiwa BLX with a Daiwa Zillion 8.1:1 gear ratio reel. This rod from Daiwa has plenty of backbone and a nice, soft tip to allow perfectly accurate casts beneath docks or overhanging trees along the shoreline. For line, Seth uses 40lb Sufix braided line tied to a Terminator Walking Frog in the smaller 2 1/2" size, which allows the bass to more easily inhale the full frog. One last tip from Seth is to trim down the length of the frog legs down to about half the length for a more compact package to reduce the chances of short strikes.
