Meri Jung is a 1985 Indian Hindi movie produced by N N Sippy and directed by Subhash Ghai. The film stars Anil Kapoor, Meenakshi Sheshadri, Nutan, Amrish Puri, Javed Jaffrey (in his debut film), A. K. Hangal, Iftekhar, Kushboo and Parikshat Sahni. The films music is by Laxmikant Pyarelal.
Plot:
The story follows Arun Verma (Anil Kapoor), a young boy from a happy lower-middle-class family, whose father is wrongly convicted and executed by a ruthless lawyer, G.D. Thakral (Amrish Puri). Arun’s mother becomes mentally unwell, and the family loses their home. Growing up with the desire for justice, Arun becomes a successful defense lawyer determined to confront Thakral. He takes on the case of Dr. Asha Mathur, who is falsely accused of harming a patient, and through a courageous courtroom demonstration, proves her innocence, earning the respect of the community and reconnecting with the Mathur family.
As Arun’s personal and professional life progresses, he reconnects with his mother, restores his family’s happiness, and falls in love with Geeta (Meenakshi). Meanwhile, Thakral’s son tries to manipulate Arun’s sister, leading to a legal confrontation where Arun finally outsmarts Thakral. In the end, justice prevails, Thakral faces consequences, and Arun’s family is reunited, celebrating life and resilience with the inspiring song “Zindagi Har Kadam Ek Nayi Jung Hai.”
