1934 Riley Nine Special


Discovered several years ago as a ‘trials special’ in poor condition, this motor car apparently commenced life as a 1934 Riley 9 Kestrel Saloon. There are photographs of the car ‘as found’.

More recently it has been reconstructed as a most attractive special with the work being carried out to an exceptional standard by the owner who was understood to be a respected restorer.

The stylish aluminium body has been constructed over a new ash frame and the chassis boxed for added strength and shortened to give an 8 feet 4-inch wheel base. The engine has been fully rebuilt and fitted with reprofiled camshafts, twin SU carburettors and a four-branch exhaust manifold.

The new 18-inch wheels are shod with Excelsior Comp H tyres.

Great attention to detail is evident and the car presents with superb paint and brightwork.

There is a double duck tonneau cover and since the rebuild she has covered less than 200 miles.

In summary a most appealing special which should prove ideal for VSCC sprints or hill climbs. It is fully road legal and has an excellent exhaust note.
