Full address by John H. Bradley to the members and attendees of the joint conference by the Philippine Scouts Heritage Society (PSHS) and the American Defenders of Bataan and Corregidor Memorial Society (ADBC-MS). Held on April 11-13, 2024 in Houston, Texas.

John H. Bradley was born in Manila, Philippines in the late 1930's and is a survivor of the Santo Tomas Internment Camp in WW2. After the war, he attended West Point and became a career US Army officer and served in Vietnam. He is a soldier, historian, author, and academic.

John served in the 82nd & 101st Airborne Divisions and in XVIII Airborne Corps in the US and the 1st Cavalry Division in Korea. After returning from Korea, he supervised the training of 52,000 new paratroopers in the Airborne Department of the Infantry School. He served as a military advisor in Vietnam and earned a Bronze Star, an Air Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge there. After other service, John received the Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster. During his service, he qualified as a Master Parachutist, a Jumpmaster, a Jungle Expert, and a Nuclear Weapons Employment Officer.

From 1970 to 1977, John taught military history at West Point, researched and wrote The Second World War, Asia and the Pacific, developed its accompanying Atlas, and wrote a pamphlet, West Point and the Hudson Highlands during the American Revolution. He also managed the extensive historical program celebrating the Bicentennial of the American Revolution at the Military Academy.
