SINSAENUM's Joey Jordison & Frederic on 'Echoes Of The Tortured', Songwriting & Future (2016)

Metal Wani's Anne Catherine Swallow caught up with the masterminds Joey and Frederic in Berlin, to discuss their brand new 21 song opus 'Echoes Of The Tortured' and how the band's extraordinary history started with only one SMS. They explained the modern and purely digital techniques of recording an album, since the members never met up in rehearsal rooms and even worked in studios on different continents. None of them considers Sinsaenum to be a side-project and both artists pour their heart and souls in the crushing death metal songs, that demanded two different singers to create this unique multi-dimensional sound atmosphere. Fred discussed why it wasn't a difficult challenge for him, to adept his 15-year-old-songs to the modern level of Extreme Metal without sounding too retro, why the album should be enjoyed in its entire length – and how the great visual contribution by Costin Chioreanu makes the journey even more thrilling. Finally both musicians dig deep in their past to talk about their first experience with Death Metal and their fascination for the Norwegian Black scene of the 90's and unveil the future plans for their new offspring.
