This lecture starts by discussing basic differences between type I, Type IIa, and Type IIx fibers. It then discusses what regulatory light chains are and the role they may play in force production. Next it explains what muscle power is and how to calculate it. It then discusses the relationship between power and how faster fiber types can produce more force than slower fiber types at the same velocities. It finishes by explaining how it is also true that faster fiber types can shorten at faster velocities while producing the same amount of force as slower twitch fibers.
