The Bass Rig That Made Jason Newsted the Ultimate God of Metal Bass

Welcome back, this is the Jason Newsted Bass Rig.
Jason contributed to the core years of Metallica (1986-2000) after much growing pain. He eventually was given creative space writing such fan favourites as “My Friend of Misery, “King Nothing” and “Wherever I May Roam” to name a few.

Jason's Bass Rig started out with basses you put together yourself and moved on to the likes of ESP, Alembic, Stuart Spector and eventually Sadowsky basses.

Newsteds amplifier rig has always consisted of Ampeg heads and cabinets but varied between models during recordings.
