Leave Me (Freestyle) - Brittany Mitchell

This piece is so vulnerable for me. I originally wrote it as a spoken word. On a road trip I decided to rehearse it and out of no where this melody came out. I spent the next hour in the car rewriting it in my head and recorded it immediately once I got home. I played it for tevin and he went nuts over it. Filming this was also difficult for me. I almost gave up the middle of it. As my art pulls back the layers, it becomes harder to share and get in front of the camera. The silhouette and shadows represent my urge to hide. So many times the enemy convinces me that my stories don’t matter. That no one really wants to hear them. So many times I choose to stay in the shadows. But creating art like this is part of my therapy. I’m slowly finding my voice and people I can trust. Whatever you do today, don’t stay in the shadows. Allow yourself to love that person deeply even when it’s scary. And Let yourself be loved by God and by the closest ones to you. #GodMadeMe
