We Love Candy but Our Passion is Collecting Art (2008 -- 2009) is a video derived by a series of interviews between the artist Jenny Marketou and young kids between 9 and 16 years of age among their art collection in their homes in New York City. Each interview has been structured around a series of questions which nudge the children to consider serious matters and reveal serious judgments that they have to make when in instead of collecting cars, stamps, dolls and other kids items they use their parents money to own historical art objects. The directing of the video has been loosely inspired by "France/Tour/Detour/Two Children" by Jean Luc Goddard and Anne Marie Mieville, 1977-1978.

Although the topic might sound ironic especially in the current financial crisis on the other hand it is more relevant especially in this video work which investigates children's psychology in their role as "art collectors" an outgrowth or excess of an economy skewered towards the rich and at the same time investigates childhood as a concept and history -- pedagogy with the hope to look upon "kids" as a utopian alternative energy which might change our involvement and our possessions with the visual world as consumers of art and our culture in general.
