Boat Transom Replacement - Marine plywood, coosa board, or something else?

If you're replacing the rotten transom wood in your small boat what material is best? In this video I discuss many of the options people choose when fabricating a new boat transom. Cost, strength and quality of materials are important to consider when replacing an old plywood transom. From coosa board to marine grade plywood, starboard, pvc board, pressure treated plywood and regular plywood - the main positives and negatives are covered in this video.

If you need to replace the transom in your small boat, jon boat, aluminum boat or other little boat, selecting the right material for your new transom can be challenging and each option has advantages and disadvantages. Doing it "right" can be expensive and doing it wrong can mean that your boat sinks or you lose your engine. The option I chose for my new transom might not be the right choice for you. But if you're thinking about replacing your old plywood transom in your small boat, hopefully this video helps you understand the options and why some choices aren't well suited for a replacement boat transom.
