My Mercury Star Runner was "eaten" by a hangar elevator a couple days ago while it was loaded with refined ore. However, I surprised to see it reappear floating outside the space station today while the hangar doors were open.

Unfortunately, although the ship and its cargo were there, they could not be interacted with, and disappeared again when the hangar doors automatically closed.
