Andy King - tribute to an Everton hero

As a tribute to one of my sporting heroes Andy King, I have edited together a six-minute video snapshot of the game for which he will always be best remembered - and the game which had a lot to do with me falling in love with Everton Football Club. On this day in October 1978 the blues beat Liverpool 1-0 at Goodison Park, with Andy scoring an absolute cracker to win the game. Liverpool were European champions and a great side, and Everton - despite having a very decent team - hadn't beaten them for seven years before this game.

I absolutely loved football in that era - the sheer passion of the supporters on the Gwladys Street terraces is there for all to see in this film. Just watch this and tell me that the same passion still exists anywhere now - I won't believe you! Time has moved on and stadiums have become all-seated for good reason - but I still miss the terraces so much especially after watching this.

I have read hundreds of tributes to Andy tonight including many heartfelt ones from supporters of other clubs - especially Liverpool. I think that says everything.
