Today I would like to debunk the myth of upper teeth extraction affects your eyes yes though the eyes are in close proximity to your upper teeth. Both the structures are connected anatomically very different . So your eyes are located inside a bone called orbit and your teeth are located in maxilla and this both the structures are separated clearly by a bone in between and also if you think about it from the perspective of nerves though it is one main nerve that is the trial nerve that gives out the branch here the ophthalmic nerve supplies to your eyes and your maxillary nerve supplies to your teeth. So there is definitely different anatomical structure that is involved and there is no direct connection for this myth to be scientifically proven. So teeth cleaning is nothing but just a professional way of taking care of your teeth and the gum what we do in the teeth cleaning is we use an ultrasonic instrument to gently clean your teeth and remove the plaque and tartar. So for sure they do not weaken your teeth what actually happens is the plaque is a very thin layer of food debris which is very soft it's a colorless film on your teeth say for example if you don't brush your teeth for 2 days a thin sticky film sticks on your teeth. So that is called plaque. But if the plaque is not attended to and if it stays on your teeth for longer then it develops something what we call as calculus. So we cannot ignore the presence of this milk tooth in the children's mouth as long as they are there they need to be kept healthy so that the child can enjoy their food and also their development will not be affected not just that the regular dental visits for just a dental cleaning even if the child do not have any problem helps the child to develop a healthy habit of meeting your dentist and also it helps the dentist to identify any problem in the children's mouth at an early stage including the jaw developmental discrepancies that is if there is any malformations of their jaw or a jaw growth is not appropriate for their age or if the speech is not appropriate for their age few things can be identified at an a very early stage if the children make visits to dentist on a regular basis I would recommend that all the children should make a visit to their dentist every 6 months I would like to debunk the myth that oral health does not affect overall health oral health is directly related to a lot of your general health say for example the heart disease the bacteria from your gums and can reach the arteries in your heart which can cause heart attacks. So now you understand that heart attack can be initiated through your gum disease. So you will have to understand the connection and work accordingly also. If you think about diabetes gum disease can cause poorly controlled diabetes and it is vice versa that is poorly controlled diabetes can lead to gum and the bone disease if you think about osteoporosis that is where your bones become weak it can again. Oral health is also related to pregnancy poor oral health can lead to premature delivery and low birth weight in the children so the gum disease that happens especially during pregnancy which could be sometimes due to hormonal imbalance but it still needs to be addressed. So yes do not ignore your oral health at any stage of your life I want to debunk this myth of brushing harder gives you cleaner teeth in fact brushing harder is more harmful for your teeth than giving you a cleaner teeth brushing harder will only damage your enamel and the gum. So it leads to multiple problems like erosion, abrasion and come disease. So the right technique to brush is gentle brushing with a circular motion you do not have to apply pressure onto your teeth I always tell it's like a painting you need to use your wrist to brush your teeth not your elbows. If you feel strain on your elbows while brushing your teeth that means you're scrubbing your teeth not brushing your teeth. So I would advise you to brush like a paint brush be gentle be kind on your teeth.
