Speedrunning this game was, at the very least, surely interesting. It's not a game suited for going fast, as you'd like to kill any enemy and slowly wait your turn through moving objects, to avoid damage as much as possible; but, at the same time, they provide you way too many lives with default settings, such that it's tempting to rush things.
This replay attempted a compromise between these two behaviours: played safe enough until reaching a point where it could be useful to sacrifice lives to speed up the travel. You also have to keep in mind that all items dropped by enemies are random, including the speed boost and extra lives, so there is potentially room for improvement.
Clearing this game 1CC wasn't required by rules, but you kinda have to stick to it, because you lose your power level when starting a new credit and that would mean slower boss fights in particular.
