San Gabriel Mission | Then and Now

This adventure will take us to Mission San Gabriel. Learn the history and see the sights that this mission has to offer. It is the fourth mission in California Mission system and was built in 1771. Each of the California Missions is unique and San Gabriel is no exception. It is believed to be the birthplace of the now thriving California wine industry or oldest winery in California. It is also home of the oldest cemetery in Los Angeles County. Other features include the De Anza Trail and the tannery vat. Join Kendall on his journey to look at the rich history and see what has been well preserved for visitors to see now. This is a great potential field trip and place for a family visit if you are trying to add perspective to California teaching standards for fourth (4th) grade history.
