Описание к видео Union Pacific "Big Boy" 4014: The Return to Southern California! October 2019

In October of 2019, Union Pacific's Big Boy #4014 made a return trip to Southern California for the first time since early 2014. Known as the World's largest steam locomotive, the 4014 is the last steam locomotive of its class to be operational, thanks to the hard working folks at the Union Pacific Steam Team.

On Saturday October 12th, 2019, Union Pacific 4014 ran a special "RailGiants" excursion up the Cajon Pass with 23 vintage passenger cars in tow. This excursion was in part to say "thank you" to the RailGiants museum in Pomona, California, of which the 4014 was purchased from and on display at for over 50 years. The special train then spent the night at the Union Pacific Yermo yard, before returning South to Colton the next day.

On Tuesday October 15th, the 4014 bid farewell to Southern California, and departed on the Union Pacific Sunset Route/Yuma Subdivision en-route to Yuma. Hundreds of people followed the 4014 throughout the Inland Empire, and down into the Coachella Valley and the Sonoran Desert.

This video documents events on Saturday October 12th as well as the departure from California on Tuesday October 15th. All locations listed in video.

Thanks for watching!
