In 1969, SHRDLU was the AI program that astonished people with its seeming intelligence, interpreting natural language commands to move around objects in a 3D space and responding logically in full English sentences. It triggered a wave of funding for AI - but as it turned out, the demo was a lot more impressive than the interactive reality.

The program was recovered and now runs on the PiDP-10 replica under the ITS operating system.
