Continuing the European Leg of the Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants Tour without Noel, the boys play a show in Vienna in Austria. The performance is decent, but not near the best nights of the tour in my opinion. Liam doesn’t sound too bad, he’s pretty good for the first half of the show but he does seem to weaken by Cigarettes & Alcohol and he struggles quite a bit on the later songs, which would become a common occurrence. Gem and Matt are still learning the ropes with Noel’s recent departure, which leads to quite a bit of interesting stuff instrumentally tonight which can be heard very clearly through the soundboard source that this show comes from. However as you might have heard no one is filling Noel’s place on backing vocal duty. So for most shows through the next two months, Acquiesce sounds ridiculous. It’s the most obvious of them, though Live Forever is also a bit shabby as well. Apart from that, things go pretty smoothly apart from overcrowding problems from the first few rows in front of the stage which makes problems for the front barrier which stops the show for a brief moment before the boys get back on track into Acquiesce. Champagne Supernova gets dropped after this gig for a few weeks, and I have no clue why.
