Time famine is that constant sense of rushing, multitasking, and feeling overwhelmed by the sheer amount of things that need to be done within a limited time frame. This feeling of time scarcity can lead to increased stress, decreased productivity, and a general sense of dissatisfaction with our day to day.

It’s a significant barrier when it comes to optimally thriving in both life and work. When we are constantly rushing and trying to cram as much as possible into our schedules, it can be challenging to focus, be present, and engage fully in the tasks at hand.

So how do we work around being in 'time famine' and 'busyness' survival mode and create more space for optimally thriving, where we shine, feeling and performing at our best?

Here are 3 simple tactics you can implement, to function more in optimally thriving mode.:
Identify Rushing Hotspots: Pinpoint the periods during your week where you tend to rush the most and try to eliminate or reschedule tasks during those times to create more space and reduce the feeling of being overwhelmed.

Create Space for Breaks: Take short breaks throughout your day to recharge your mind, enhance creativity and improve productivity. Giving your mind time to wander and process events can help you recalibrate and stay on track.

Sacrifice or Make Trade-offs: Instead of cramming everything into your schedule, consider making trade-offs or sacrifices to reduce obligations and create more breathing room in your calendar. Saying ‘no’ is totally ok.

Lastly, the next time you're about to say 'busy,' try reframing it as 'accomplished.' This small change in vocabulary can shift your perspective towards positive, outcome-focused thinking and help you overcome 'time famine’.
