Studies of Imam al-Ghazali - Abdal Hakim Murad - Saturday 15 July 2017

This course will deal in depth with Book 37 of Imam al-Ghazali’s Revival of the Religious Sciences, entitled ‘The Book of Intention, Sincerity and Truthfulness’. Students will cover issues related to human consciousness, will and motivation, definitions of sincerity (ikhlas), and practical methods of avoiding hypocrisy and confused intentions. The objective is to gain clearer knowledge of the reasons for the turbulence of our inner lives and to gain some practical awareness of how Islamic spirituality cleanses the thoughts and transforms us into more centred and conscious human beings.
