Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni took center stage at Fenix, the national festival of Gioventù Nazionale, the youth organization of her party Fratelli d’Italia. Smiling and confident, she delivered a fiery and emotional speech that mixed defiance, pride, and humor, striking a tone somewhere between political leadership and rock star charisma.

Addressing a crowd of young supporters, Meloni declared: “The threats multiply as we prove we can govern this nation, but we are not afraid.” The remark came as she reflected on rising hostility and debates around so-called “hate speech.” She accused her political opponents of promoting intolerance in the past, citing the case of U.S. conservative activist Charlie Kirk, whose death, she said, sparked international indignation.

The Prime Minister placed strong emphasis on national security, describing it as a “precondition for freedom.” She defended her government’s controversial Security Decree, which targets illegal occupations, fraud against the elderly, and child begging. Critics on the left, she said, wrongly accused her of authoritarian drift. “We defend the freedom to walk proudly in the world and say: ‘Don’t try to trick me, I am Italian.’”
