WALKS IN DORSET at BERE REGIS (and THE DEVIL'S STONE). (4K)

Описание к видео WALKS IN DORSET at BERE REGIS (and THE DEVIL'S STONE). (4K)

In this episode of my series “ Walks in Dorset”, I take a 3 mile circular walk in and around Bere Regis in Dorset. Once again I am accompanied by my Whippet, Logan.

I park my car in a free car park in the centre of the village and start my walk at the Church of St John the Baptist (well worth lookinginside to view the magnificent carvings in the roof). After a wander through the village, I make my way to the South – crossing the Bere Stream and passing through a delightful meadow.

My route takes me to the tiny hamlet of Shitterton which is located to the West of Bere Regis before I continue South along the side of May's Wood on a section of the Jubilee Trail.

I soon join a section of the Hardy Way as I make my way up Black Hill for some stunning 360 degree views.

At the top of Black Hill I visit the Devil's Stone – a “five fingered” stone that is 5.5 feet tall that is close to a line of three Bronze Age barrows.

I then head East, past another Bowl barrow (The Hundred Barrow), cross the road that goes South from Bere Regis, and on to Doddings Farm where there are long established watercress beds.

My final leg takes me North ack to Bere Regis, past a field that once was the location of King John's House (a Medieval Manor House) and n to my final destination – The Royal Oak Pub at Bere Regis.

NB: I should have removed my cap when I was in the church - please accept my apologies for the oversight.
