Officially named SYNC, this 20m tall mural in the heart of Koenji signifies so much of what BnA, Japanese artists and the Koenji locals are trying to do. 
The eagle, with its wings spreading wide soaring into the sky, represents the city of Koenji and its inhabitants spreading their wings and sharing their amazing culture. The surrounding abstract images depict the diversity of the Koenji people and their acceptance of all the quirkiness and unusualness the outside world has to offer.

SYNC is a powerful portrayal of holding on to your sense of culture while sharing it with all those who are curious.

About WHOLE9
Formed in 2007, WHOLE9 consists of two highly skilled painters, muralists and all around artists. HITCH in charge of 'representational painting' focuses on painting and SIMO concentrates on 'abstract painting' binding the two styles together. Finding the perfect balance between their two different painting styles, W9 are able to create large scale murals in an unbelievably quick time, a point of pride for the duo as they have gained a reputation and respect for their ability to create large scale murals quickly without compromising quality.

About MURAL CITY PROJECT
MCP is a BnA run initiative created to show case up and coming Japanese artist while invigorating, inspiring and promoting some of Japan's most interesting neighborhoods.
Started in 2016 in Koenji, this city wide mural curation project that turns plain boring building walls into pieces of art. Unlike many international cities permanent large scale murals are very rare in Tokyo let alone Japan, these kinds of art works are still seen as 'defacing of public property' making receiving of a permit to paint that much harder. With the support of local governments and building owners we hope to acquire more walls and work with many more upcoming Japanese artists solidifying the MURUAL CITY PROJECT as an initiative that will make Japan a landmark art destination, a must see for all art lovers.
