PGGPT Present in West Nabire and Waroki Village, Serving Residents' Health Without Religious Boundaries

NABIRE – The Communion of Churches in Central Papua (PGGPT), through its Pastoral Services for Health and Nutrition Division, once again provided integrated services to the community in West Nabire District and Waroki Village, Nabire Regency, Central Papua Province, on Friday, January 30, 2026.

This activity is a concrete manifestation of the church's service that reaches people from all backgrounds without distinction of religion.

The General Chair of PGGPT, Dr. Rev. Yance Nawipa, MA, M.Th, explained that the service was carried out in the spirit of church unity and Christ's love for all people.

"All churches unite to pray, be of one heart and mind in the unity of the church. We are one in Christ Jesus. This service is a manifestation of God's love for all people, without discrimination," Yance Nawipa told reporters.

He explained that from 2025 to 2026, PGGPT has implemented various service programs, ranging from counseling for servants of God, household and premarital counseling, evangelism training, to health and social services for the community, including the elderly.

In its services in Kampung Waroki and Kampung Maruti, PGGPT involves a multi-professional team consisting of specialist doctors, general practitioners, nurses, nuns, counselors, pastors, and church officials from various denominations, both Protestant and Catholic.

Services provided include communal worship, prayer services and pastoral counseling, minor health checks such as blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, and uric acid tests, and the distribution of basic food aid. In addition, PGGPT also distributes milk to infants, toddlers, and pregnant women as part of its nutritional services.

The General Secretary of PGGPT and Chair of the Event Committee, Rev. Didi Naya, M.Th, explained that these activities are part of PGGPT's ongoing health and nutrition work program.

"Previously, our services were held in schools, but this time we went directly to the community. We are grateful that not only church members attended, but also our Muslim brothers and sisters. Health is a necessity for everyone," explained Rev. Didi Naya.

He added that this health and nutrition service is integrated, as in addition to health checks, it also includes spiritual care and social assistance to support the community's economic situation.

"Today's activities are summarized in a series, starting with worship, prayer and counseling services, health checks, and the distribution of basic food supplies," he added.

PGGPT emphasized that similar activities will continue at various other locations in Nabire and the surrounding area. Going forward, PGGPT also plans to reach refugee communities scattered across several locations.

"We hope that through this service, the health of the community, especially children and pregnant women, can improve, so that we can give birth to a healthy next generation," said Rev. Didi.

On that occasion, the General Chairperson of the PGGPT also expressed his appreciation to the Central Papua Provincial Government for its support of church services, including the 2025 service funding assistance used to implement nine church service programs.

"On behalf of the church, we express our gratitude to the Central Papua Provincial Government for their attention to health, education, and social services. The church will continue to be the government's partner in maintaining peace and developing Central Papua as a land of peace and love," said Yance Nawipa.

Meanwhile, Hengki Manigasi, a representative of the Maruti Village community, expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the presence of PGGPT in their village.

"We are grateful that the church is present to provide health services to the community. We hope that activities like this can continue in the future," he said.

Through this integrated health and nutrition service, PGGPT affirms its commitment to continue serving the people of Central Papua in an inclusive, humane, and sustainable manner, as part of the church's calling of faith and social responsibility. (MB)
