Fire officials are investigating after a person was killed in a house fire Wednesday evening. According to Howard County Fire & EMS, firefighters responded to the 11500 block of Shell Flower Lane in Columbia at around 7:30 p.m. The fire was brought under control "very quickly thereafter," a spokesperson said. Officials said one person was killed and two people were injured.
