Naga Peace Talks: GOI, NSCN-IM not on same page of word ‘inclusive’

The latest on the Naga Peace Talks that one heard was on Monday, when Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio told the NEDA meeting that the peace process was at an advanced stage and that the Nagas, including all the State’s 60 MLAs, are ready to facilitate a solution to the problem.
It now appears that there is a serious difference in perception to the word ‘inclusive’ that figures in the 2015 Framework Agreement.
This came to light after the NSCN-IM’s consultative meeting held last week, in which, the group’s leadership gave an update on the peace process to representatives of leading Naga Civil Society groups, including the Naga Hoho.
Northeast Live caught up with the General Secretary of the Naga Hoho - Elu Ndang.
Speaking to Northeast Live, Elu Ndang said that the NSCN-IM had clarified during the meeting that the word inclusive in the Framework Agreement, according to them, means inclusion of all Naga inhabitated areas, whereas to the Government of India, the word inclusive means an agreement within the framework of the Indian Constitution.
