Do It Yourself - Installing a Hipshot Baby Grand Guitar Bridge (May 2016)

Tonight’s guitar video is a tutorial on how to install a Hipshot Baby Grand bridge on your Les Paul style guitar.

The Hipshot Baby Grand is a replacement for the typical wrap around bridges found on guitars like the Gibson Melody Maker.

The guitar I worked on for this tutorial is one of my Gibson Baldwins where the wrap around bridge I had originally installed on the guitar had too high a profile and this limited my ability to lower the action to where I like to have it set.

I was already familiar with the Hipshot Baby Grand since I had installed one on my Melody Maker and decided to take the plunge and buy another for this guitar.

The Hipshot bridges are well made but they are not cheap. The Baby Grand is $110 on the Hipshot website and approximately $80 on Amazon so when I found a seller on eBay letting them for $68 I jumped on it.

The end result as you will see did not disappoint. The Hipshot due to its low profile design allowed me to get the string action to exactly where I needed it to be.
