In Chad, a digital app has made it easier to register a child's birth and print out a birth certificate — an important step toward ensuring a child's access to education and other essential social services and protecting their rights. UNICEF helped implement the new tool in partnership with the Government of Chad. Birth registration rates in the country have increased significantly since the roll out. By mid-2023, the proportion of children under the age of 1 year registered at birth had reached 31 percent, more than double what it had been in 2020.
