►Oil changes are essential to your Audi B9 S5 or S4 engine. Oil provides the lubrication and cooling that keeps every moving part within the engine happy and healthy. However, it breaks down after a few thousand miles, losing some of its lubricating properties while adding sticky deposits to small passageways. Both will negatively affect the engine's internal components, so oil changes must be done regularly and on time to avoid larger issues.

The intense heat Audi's turbocharged EA839 engine puts out, oil changes are critical. Heat plays a large factor in how quickly oil degrades. Luckily, oil changes on the B9 S5 can be done the old-fashioned way—draining it from the bottom—or how dealerships do it now—sucking out the old oil through the dipstick tube. Either way will give you the desired results, but one may be easier given your skill level and available tools.
