Ah, 28 Days Later; the most popular and liked film of the 28 franchise. This is the film that started it all. Danny Boyle had a vision, and this vision manifested into a gritty, dark, and occasionally humorous zombie flick, though they're not real zombies.
28 Days Later influenced the zombie genre in ways that we are still seeing today and redefined what a zombie was. 28 Years Later was also the breakout role for Irish, Oscar-winning actor Cillian Murphy; however, I would argue that his real breakout role was "Breakfast on Pluto."
Side note that the film coincidentally features Brendan Gleeson, who is also in 28 Days Later. But that is neither here nor there.
