Bonaire 🇧🇶 is a very beautiful Caribbean island with lots of things to do and see. Many people come here for the beaches to snorkel and to dive, because Bonaire is called the diving paradise of the world.

Bonaire has also lots of history. Especially the dark history about the slaves and the European slave traders. Many people were killed, many people were opressed and the pain of this history is still beeing felt today.

Unfortunately, the history is not told the correct way. History is written by the winners of the battle. That means that the things that are written, can be manipulated in a way to make themselves look better than they actually were.

Because of this manipulation, I grew up with the idea that the European pirates were cool guys who travel the world and do good business.

Even the information board on the sight was not telling the whole truth.

And because of this, people are not educated enough to take these sights as serious as other historical sights that we are taking very serious, like the Nazi concentration camps or other WW1 and WW2 sights around the world.
