Moribayassa Dunduns

Описание к видео Moribayassa Dunduns

Moribayasa is a rhythm from the Malinke people in northeast Guinea. It is traditionally played only when a woman is having a great illness or problem such as infertility. Once in a woman's life, after exhausting all other solutions, she will pray and make a vow to dance the Moribayassa dance when the problem is solved. When her wish is granted, perhaps even years later, she will dance Moribayassa around the village. Accompanied by drummers, she will dress in crazy clothes and run to catch other women who will then be required to wear crazy clothes and dance Moribayassa as well.
