The Green Knight is a beautiful and gritty fantasy fable about the end of King Arthur's reign. Filled with magic and metaphor, this captivating non-linear story follows a young Gawain (Dev Patel) on a journey to prove to himself if the man of honor he wants to become can really exist in this dark world. Gawain is no ordinary man, as he is the nephew of King Arthur, son of Morgana, and sorcery and magic follow him throughout every step.
At times he encounters interesting adversaries and creatures, as well as people, living and not so much, that continuously test his bravery and integrity.
With near-perfect cinematography, subtle yet effective score, powerful performances and plenty of practical effects accentuated by good CGI, director David Lowery makes a statement about honor and honesty that will become a cult-classic.
An experience that places the audience in a mythical land full of extraordinary trials, and not only a show to watch.
The Green Knight definitely deserves multiple viewings and it is a blessing that it is still available in select theatres.
