 Amazon's God of War is already setting itself up for success with this decision about which timeline to adapt. God of War is getting the television treatment next, and Amazon Prime is hoping that the adaptation will find similar success that Fallout has already found with video game fans and non-fans alike.  While it was already assumed, thanks to a slip of the tongue by Ronald D. Moore back in March, Amazon has officially confirmed that God of War will be getting two seasons. It's more great news for fans of the franchise, which is already making the right production choices, including which games to adapt. The God Of War TV Show Will Begin With The Events From 2018's God Of War  There are six main line God of War games (18, if you include all the spinoffs), and four of those installations are set in the Greek mythological timeline, with Kratos fighting Zeus and his pantheon of gods. The other two are set many years after the Greek games, now with Kratos in the nine realms of Norse mythology.  The Amazon God of War show has been confirmed to be adapting the Norse timeline, meaning we will get Kratos's son, Atreus. God of War (2018) takes place at least 150 years after God of War III, though the time periods are a bit out of sync, and not terribly important. What's important is we're getting the Norse story. Why God Of War's Norse Storyline Is The Better One To Adapt  Thank goodness Amazon decided to adapt the Norse storyline from the games. That decision alone suggests the showrunners understand the material they've been given. Those Greek-set games are some of the best video games ever, and they have an exciting storyline, but the Norse ones are so much better for television.  In the Greek storyline, Kratos is rage personified, an excuse for the player to kill everything. The story in the Norse games is much more important; exploring the mystery of Atreus and the Norse pantheon is as entertaining as the gameplay. It makes much more sense for this father-son dynamic of the Norse games to drive the TV show.
