Pandit ji unravels the mystery of sindoor, revealing that neither the practice nor its mantra is found in the scriptures. He questions why symbols like mangalsutra and payal are exclusive to women, highlighting gender imbalance in marital traditions.

The interview also touches on how colonial history shaped some of these traditions, including the use of sindoor to protect women from crimes. Pandit ji explains how, over time, these practices have become irrelevant in modern society.

Bani also raises questions about the ritual of kanyadaan, to which Pandit ji responds with a strong critique. He emphasises that the term “daan” (donation) is inappropriate, as women are not objects to be given away.
