NEW Volkswagen Tiguan Review! In-Depth Test

The new Volkswagen Tiguan gets a new look and bigger interior than its hot-selling predecessor, but is that enough to take on its brilliant rivals? Join Sam Sheehan as he investigages if the changes give VW's 2024 SUV an advantage over rivals like the Kia Sportage, Audi Q5 and Qashqai, to name a few.

With a starting price of £34,075, the Tiguan can't claim to be the class bargain, but it does come packed with new technology, including a bigger infotainment system and standard-fit digital instrument cluster. The boot's also now a generous 652 litres (which is 37 litres bigger than before), and it has a useful underfloor storage area.

The back seats aren't too shabby either, with plenty of legroom, even for tall passengers, and a wide arm-rest for those long journeys. The ride in the Life trim car that Sam tests is good as well, although he notes that the best Tiguan experience will be had in car's with the optional Dynamic Chassis Control tech aboard. That option is £1,065 extra, but it's worth it.

Go for the mild-hybrid 1.5-litre Tiguan engine and automatic gearbox, as we have here, and you'll also be capable of towing up to 1.8 tonnes of brake trailer, which is very competitive.
