Miguel Alejandro Castillo joins Joel Marshall today to talk about the show he is currently touring in called Weathering, directed by the wildly visionary Faye Driscoll.

Miguel is an interdisciplinary artist from Caracas, Venezuela. A choreographer, director, installation artist, educator, and performer. Miguel has performed in the U.S. and internationally in the works of Faye Driscoll, Jeanine Durning, Tzveta Kassabova, Alex Springer & Xan Burley, Laurel Jenkins, and Delfos Danza Contemporánea, among others. Castillo was a 2021 danceWEB scholar at the ImPulsTanz Festival in Vienna and a 2022-2023 Fresh Tracks Artist in residence at New York Live Arts. He is currently also developing his own projects.

Castillo recently choreographed John Adams’ opera The Gospel According to the Other Mary at the Volksoper in Vienna and David Lang’s prisoner of the state, which premiered at Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center and toured Europe. He is a proud United World College alumnus and holds a bachelor’s degree in dance and theatre from Middlebury College and an M.F.A. in Choreography and Performance from Smith College. Miguel Alejandro has taught at Middlebury College, Amherst College, Smith College, Northwestern University, and the University of Panamá.
