In this video we visit the warehouse of one of our biggest customers to show you what to look for in a real world warehouse management system. There are 6 basic functions to look for in any warehouse management.

1. Receiving - Scan product against purchase orders, print out pallet labels, and receive product into the warehouse.

2. Check-In - Check product into any bin by scanning the pallet and the QR code/barcode on the bin location itself. This ties the pallet, quantities, lot numbers, and expiration dates to the bin location.

3. Picking - Have sales orders transmit directly to the warehouse management scanners. The system will tell the user exactly where to go to pick the product within the warehouse. The user will scan the bin location to ensure that they are picking the correct product. The WMS will capture the product lot number/expiration date at this time.

4. Transfer - Transfer product to/from bin locations in the warehouse using first in first out. Initiate a transfer and the system will show you where to transfer product from/to depending on the expiration date of the product. You can set up the product to work with FIFO.

5. Cycle Counts - Having a warehouse management system makes so you can cycle count your picking bins ONLY. No more having to count the entire warehouse in order to get an accurate inventory value.

6. Route Returns - A WMS should be able to track all of the product going onto your delivery trucks and off your delivery trucks. This way you can track whether or not your drivers are stealing from you. This will also enable you to pinpoint the whereabouts of all product at all times.
