Dr Swamy was a long-time member of the Janata Party, serving as its president until 2013 when Janata Party merged into Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

He has numerous books written by him. He has been in the forefront as an Anti-Corruption Crusaders and PILs.

His PIL in the Ram Mandir matter led to the Ram Mandir case been expedited in the Supreme Court and ultimately victory for the Ram Mandir. Re-construction.
