Описание к видео One good thing to help in the battle against the coronavirus

(11 Apr 2020) LEAD IN
In Indonesia one woman is turning her tailoring business to helping produce protective clothing for hospital workers.
It's just one example of how people around the globe are doing one good thing to help in the fight against the coronavirus outbreak.

STORY-LINE :
In West Java, Maryati Dimursi started to worry about her friends who are working at the local hospital two weeks ago.
She had tearful conversations on the telephone with friends sharing their recent experiences, including concerns about the lack of proper medical protective gear, which leaves them exposed to the virus and also puts others at risk.
"Many hospitals weren't prepared enough, they don't have the body protection suits so when they dealing with the patients they wear anything to substitute the full body protection suits, called hazmat suits, by using rain coats or plastic bags" she explains.
In desperation at the shortage of personal protective equipment, doctors and nurses at the hospitals started wearing plastic raincoats. It is a risky option as the raincoats cannot cover the whole body.
Dimursi, a businesswoman, decided to help.
Despite a lack of medical knowledge or hospital experience, she undertook her research by asking her medic friends what they needed, and then decided that a hazmat suit would give better protection to hospital workers.
She visited several home based tailoring businesses to find suitable partners, and recruited five small businesses who were willing to help and agreed only to charge the worker fees for the hazmat suit production, and forgo a profit.
Next she started fundraising on her social media account with some help from her friends to share the announcement.
" To go into production obviously we needed some funds so me and my friends started fund rising and we got a very good feedback, a lot of people wanted to join and donate. At the beginning my personal target was to donate 50 pieces (of hazmat suits) but at the end we managed to produced 1000 pieces" she says.
In one week, they collected 67 million rupiah ($4, 000 approx) donations and a list of 20 priority hospitals that urgently need the suits.
One of her partners, Tating, a home-based tailor business owner, says he is glad to help in the battle against the new coronavirus.
"Honestly this is only a small contribution from us, I am encouraging my friend who run the same type of business to help produce this hazmat suits so all the doctors and nurses treating Covid-19 patients can be more confident in doing their job"
At first, he was worried about the standard and quality of the suits as his tailors hadn't produced anything like this before .
But now the hazmat suits are in production with Tating charging Dimursi the cost to pay the tailors' fees, and for the thread. He is postponing other orders until he finishes this hazmat suit production.
Despite an initial hold up in sourcing the fabric, production started last week, then it was a race against time to make enough suits for a weekend delivery-run to local hospitals.
The hazmat suits are donated for free for the medical teams at the hospitals in Indonesia, and they are delivered by another team of volunteers.
